This Sunday begins a five week series on The Sermon on the Mount as
recorded in Matthew's Gospel (chapter 5). We begin with the readings
in 5:1-12 which are called The Beatitudes. These are powerful words.
They speak to us of God's blessings. Still, we often don't hear what
Jesus is really saying. Too often, we hear the words as something
that we have to obtain or do.
