September 11th – A Day of Remembrance and Prayers for Peace
September 11th – A Day of Remembrance and Prayers for Peace
All are invited to begin this day at 9 a.m. with juice and donuts outside provided by the Board of Christian Education.
At 9:15 a.m. all will gather at the Scout Flag Pole on the north side of the parking lot where we will lower the flag to half staff. This is for all ages and families are encouraged to bring their children. Scouts are invited to attend in uniform and to assist with lowering the flag. After the flag is lowered, we will offer a prayer. Then, Scouts will hand out flags to children and adults.
Families will then go to the Phoenix and Pearl Streets and plant the flags along the road. Following this, they will go to their church school classes.
Adults are invited to Fellowship Hall for coffee and conversation. On the tables will be some conversation starters about 9/11.
Worship at 10:30 will include special prayers and remembrances around this tenth anniversary. We will also remember those who continue to serve in the airline industry, and have some special reflections from two people currently flying with United Airlines.
