Our Churches Wider Mission (OCWM)

UCC congregations are involved with mission in many ways. In the United Church of Christ, we affirm that, although the congregation is the fundamental unit of mission, mission is not just local. We are connected to one another, across boundaries of neighborhood, class, race, and national border. Money given to OCWM supports the mission and ministry of the church in Michigan and throughout the United States and the world. It helps fund the structure of the church on a state and national level as well as funds programs and mission outreach.

First Congregational Church supports the following local ministries with yearly gifts, publicity of activities, and through the time and talents of the members.  Find out more information on how to get involved with these groups.

South Haven Habitat for Humanity - located in South Haven with a goal of building one new home a year. Claude Mann, a member of this church, was one of the founding members of this organization. Many members of this church continue to serve on the Board of Directors. The church helps with the construction of each new home.

Hospice at Home - Located here in South Haven we have members who are volunteers and on staff.  Hospice at Home cares for those people who are seriously ill and in need of some extra care and support.
